Sleepy eyed

Standard

So how’s it going with the rising early thing, you may ask (or you may not, lol). Well, the past two mornings I’ve gotten up, but I’ve also hardly slept before I got up, tossing and turning, trying to figure this all out. When I did get up this morning I went downstairs and did some reading, Mr. Magooing it to 1 Corinthians. Then I spent some time in prayer in my “upper room” afterward and went to bed about an hour later (around 4 a.m.), wondering what I was expecting because nothing happened (though I know God is always with me). I didn’t sleep well after I went to bed, either, having some strange dreams that I mostly don’t remember. What I do remember quite clearly is the chorus of a song the Holy Spirit played as I passed over into consciousness, Seals & Crofts’ “Get Closer”: Darling if you want me to be closer to you, get closer to me. I’ve so missed my D.D.J. waking me up with tunes in the morning :)

The other exercise is ongoing. Sometimes I do better than others. I wouldn’t say I am conscious of God every minute but I think I’m doing pretty well to talk to Him at least once every ten minutes or so and that’s a start. And it’s brought about more of an awareness of His presence, which is a good thing.

I need to wake up. Classes start back up today and Doug Addison is speaking. From 9-10 p.m. he’s going to speak about 2012 and there’s a live webcast at his site, I’m told, so if any of you get this in time perhaps you can tune in, too. I’ve heard an awful lot about him and am really looking forward to the next few days. I think I may go on site on Friday.
